It is probably one of the most iconic 90s album covers. And like all iconic images, like the Nike tick and the National Geographic of the girl with the amazing green eyes, they have humble histories. The Nike tick was a result of a competition. The woman who won doesn't get huge royalties from the logo design. Neither does the cover girl of the famous 1985 cover of National Geographic.
Anyway, back to the Nirvana cover, it was a favour done for a friend and the infant in the image is just your regular boy next door. Thing is, you never know. Somethings just become iconic because of the right time and right place.
