DON'T HATE THE PLAYA HATE THE GAME

We have been super busy with the preparations for MASH-UP.

Firstly we have changed our label's name which actually turned out to be a good thing, really. I mean, what is in a name?

Secondly, we shifted to a new studio space, a small office in an industrial area in Bishan complete with an industrial sewing machine. We were lugging in stuff in our luggage all the way from home.
Thirdly, we opened a bank account, everything is so grown-up. We walked into the bank in jeans and asked to open a corporate bank account, it felt surreal. Here is a picture of one of the first times any of us has carried a 1,000 dolla dolla bill yaw. Is that even something you´re supposed to admit to? Haha! My nails look better now BTW. My mom would scream at me.

Fourthly, we are working on our debut collection, an extension of the Degree Collection I did back in 2009. Native americans, streetwear, hip hop and Downtown New York in 80s-90s. Here are some sketches of the developments Nat is working on. Also, our wall collage with style inspiration, can you spot 1990s Johnny Depp? And also, there is an article on Destiny's Child from SMASH HITS 1999 (original  magazine tear-out, no less!) that I kept from my teeny bopper days. They even mispelled Beyonce's name and mixed her up with Latoya. That's how old it is! Can you imagine not knowing who Beyonce is? And check out Juvenile and Nelly at the background. Dope.

Here are some sneak previews on what we have been designing, plenty of hand embroidery, beading and crazy prints.

In case you were wondering, these are empty. But we will be transforming them to awesomeness soon. Watch this space (<----- insert cheesy line)

We went to Bras Basah and picked up some old issues of SUPERSUPER and awesome books. We found this ghetto board game that we have yet to play but check out the cover art!!!!!@#$%^& the fine print says "DON'T HATE THE PLAYA, HATE THE GAME" and also, "FOR 30 AND UNDER 2-4 PLAYAS" #boss

FINALLY THE BIG NEWS!!!
THANKS TO SPRING SINGAPORE, WE WERE APPROVED THE SPRING GRANT.
I think it is a fantastic thing that they're helping out young start-ups. And thanks to them, we are able to kick-start our production soooo when you see our babies hanging on the racks come April 2012, you know who we are thanking. Apart from God, family, friends, TaFF and Maluca.

Peace V
