Team Mash-Up goes Cray

As you might know by now, our Autumn/Winter collection is inspired by an imaginary basketball team from Atlanta (best place for hip hop music right now) and the lost city of Atlantis. It's kind of an underwater Space Jam and Team Mash-Up's uniforms are all inspired by what Atlantis would be inhabited with; underwater creatures.

We have Kanye to thank for this one, we had n****s in paris on loop the whole of last season and it must have been embedded in the depths of our consciousness.
Well crayfish..lobster..potayyto potahhhtoh.

What also inspired us is the lobster dress by Elsa Schiaperelli. She is probably one of our favourite Couturiers and her  collaborations with Salvador Dali were genius.
We researched on the subliminal messages behind lobsters and these are some of the qualities that we
found profoundly interesting.

When the lobster swims into your consciousness, it's time to scour your personal landscape for treasures waiting in your midst.

In general, the lobster asks you to do stuff like:

• Seek out unorthodox solutions around you.
• Pick through options you've not considered before.
• Go on a scavenger hunt for hidden treasures that nurture your soul.
• Use your sensory 'antenna' to scout out the best resources for your life.
• Allow yourself to find balance between softly vulnerable and well-defended.
• Drop those useless limbs of past wounds so you can be free to scamper to new vistas.
• Contemplate protective/defense mechanisms. Make sure they're healthy and functional - and molt if you sense you've become hardened.

And with this we look back at the famous lobster dress by Elsa

Earlier this year a whole lot of Schiaparelli came into fashion news through the Prada museum show collabo and the 1stdibs.com release of rare Elsa Schiaparelli pieces. Check out this compact mirror and other pieces

So in our own Mash-Up way, we pay homage to Elsa and Dali's collaboration which dates back almost a century later. How fashion comes back into a circle, huh?

AFF- BACKSTAGE

We would like to thank everybody for coming down to the Parco next Next's fashion show! The response was really good, we saw it was full house people were standing and sitting on the steps. Once again, thank you for all the support and love ((:

Also, we would like to thank our wonderful talents , who came at 630am for rehearsals, you guys rocked the runway.  Thank you Goldwell for dyeing two of our talents hair and Zalora for men's shoes and of course DAVID TENG (Dave Does from the Butter Factory)  for the song, it was epic...

Per Square Inch

In a world where every square inch costs money, white space/ empty space is always a luxury. So here is some


















Anyway, our launch date is coming closer.. we will have our physical store opening in less than a month!! that is loco!

We really wanted to make use of recycled materials, whether we actually do manage to make it is a thing of the future...and fate...and extraterrastial will!! But, it would be cool. Check out this plastic fake chair hehe

We also wanted to have a "street" theme...lliterally!

And what is a street without graffitti? And bums? And cardboard signs? And signs? And shiny lights? And vandalized things?

Dark days call for dark drawings, here are some initial plans for the shop, most of it changed along the way but..I was not kidding when I said we wanted a street.

 

And we really wanted fun floors made with duct tape, but unless you live in an 1980s dream I doubt the streets are filled with these..but we would get there!

And this is duct tape gone crazy. Which is probably what is going to happen since we will be doing most of the shop decor ourselves. I am taking bets to see who will end up taped to the wall first, nat? or shaf? *twighlight zone*

MASH-UP MONDAYS PRESENTS

How has everyone's weekend been?

In case you haven't seen this, it is a video we have done to present Totemania and Mash-Up to everyone. It was edited by our very talented friend Shirin Chawla and filmed by Simon Nicholls.

The video shows the behind the scenes footage of our photoshoot which was photographed by our good mate David Teng, (who is a DJ at Butter Factory as well) and it features all our friends and models prancing and dancing around. It's good fun, hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed filming it!

MASH-UP MONDAYS HIT 'EM UP

once again, its MASH-UP MONDAY !!!


So we've been busy getting ready for the media launch on the 8th, printing press kits and namecards(busy busy busy !! ) and we're super psyched !!!!

The prints are all silk-screened so you can imagine the work it takes for someone to do our technicoloured prints, they had to do multiple screens for every colour. They are all screened on 100% cotton for full comfort and max powaaaa.


we're very proud of our thunderbird print and we've got a t-shirt dress and t-shirt version, here's the initial drawing :

on a side note, we are reobsessed with M.I.A ever since we saw her new video, check out the dessert 2 fast 2 furious-magic-carpet-style rides she's flying in, love the black top with the metal bustier sew on, she's back with powa powa :
